SEO Like a Pro

Long story short, it has been a rough 3 months for my wife and me.  You can contact me if you are curious.  I am now a licensed realtor/investor and have taken my skillset to the real estate space.

I am the “NoCarAgent” because of the aforementioned previous 3 months.  So I’m going to take you along the journey of how to build something from nothing via SEO.

  1. What are you trying to sell or accomplish?
  2. Research your competition online.
    1. What are they doing via organic, social media, etc.?  What are they good, okay, and terrible at?
    2. Find where you fit in to that space to feed your business and family.
  3. Buy a relevant and short URL that people can spell, seriously don’t skip this part.
    1. Try to make it memorable.
  4. Start setting up all social media profiles.
    1. Carnival Cruise Line’s Snapchat URL got into the hands of a teenager.  Look it up.
    2. This helps protect your brand and keep it cohesive everywhere.
  5. Start sharing content that is relevant to what you are trying to accomplish or who you are trying to target.  Don’t be salesy, period.  Build an “online relationship” within the community.

In utilizing this very simple and strategic method I have been able to basically “hijack” the entire first page of Google for the search term “Nocaragent.”  Go look if you don’t believe me.

So what is SEO?  Search Engine Optimization simply put is playing nice with Google based on what they deem is quality and relevant traffic to map to search queries.  Try typing something of interest like “Granite Countertop Suppliers.”  All the pages not listed with a green little ad box (paid ads, aka PPC/SEM) are a part of Google’s organic listings.

So why SEO?  Basically, it helps you look more credible, and it’s never bad to be “in with Google.”  Think about your personal habits as an online consumer for a second.  Where do you search?  What do you look for?  What do you type in and why?  If you can understand the principles behind all of that and get in front of your prospects at the right time, you will win every time.

Now that you have the skinny on how to beef up your SEO, go out and do it for your business or get creative and test it out on some new product/idea you have.  You’ll be surprised at how fast you can move up the rankings or even control the entire first page now making you look like the go-to person or business in your space.

Lastly make sure to utilize a Full-funnel strategy.  At the top you will have more of the awareness, prospecting type traffic.  The middle of the funnel may be purchasers or more engaged traffic.  Finally, the bottom of the funnel will be your referrals and repeat business that continues to make you money on auto-pilot.  Utilize various marketing channels and their ability to capture different areas of the funnel.  Most of this you can do for free or fairly cheap.

I’m working on getting to auto-pilot and scaling my businesses one day a time.  Always remember your competition is paying attention, so you should too.  However, do it faster, smarter, and with a precise vision to continue to live your best life.
